New Season 6 Set Rising in Magheramorne Quarry

A week ago, we heard tell that filming was taking place again in Magheramorne Quarry, although reports suggested it was quite small. Now it looks like something else is going up near where the production films scenes at Castle Black and The Wall every season.

According to the Larne Times:

The new set is currently a hive of activity, with large white tents and vans travelling back and forth to prepare the location among the old quarry buildings for filming.

Meanwhile, the original set at Magheramorne was also being spruced up in preparation for filming, with workers in cherry pickers painting the quarryside white to emulate the icy backdrop of The Wall.

So despite evidence that certain characters have left the Wall, that doesn’t mean the show is done with Castle Black. I would not be surprised if there were still some scenes to film for leave takings. I would also not be surprised to see a few scenes at the Wall with those who are left behind.

But what is that new-looking set in the first three images? The houses being built have green and mossy roofs, and their walls are stained with what looks like water. My first thought is that this set will stand in for a poor part of a port city, such as the one see Davos travel to in the later books. But since that’s all been cut (presumably), I’m not sure where this part of Westeros is. (It does feel like Westeros, though. Essos never seems to be that wet or dilapidated.)

UPDATE: A couple of commenters below have hit upon it: The Neck. The waterlogged world of the Frogmen. I don’t know if this is Greywater Watch or not, but the sheer boggy and wet look of the area certainly suggests we may finally see the lands ruled by Howland Reed. Heck, we might even *see* Howland Reed. In a flashback maybe? Or perhaps that’s where we’ll find Rickon holed up?

Chances are these will be the best shots we get of whatever is happening here, since close ups are near impossible for this location. Last year, the show filmed the Hardhome battle for five weeks in the Quarry and there was barely a peep about it. We’ll just have to speculate from a distance.
