Time for the beginning of another two-part story this week on Doctor Who! ‘The Zygon Invasion’ is a pseudo-sequel to the 2013 50th anniversary special, ‘The Day of the Doctor,’ featuring the return of those classic monsters, the Zygons. UNIT is also heavily featured in the new adventure, with Jemma Redgrave returning as head of scientific research (and daughter of Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart) Kate Stewart.
In addition, fan favorite Osgood is somehow back from the dead, played once again by actress Ingrid Oliver. Osgood was last seen in the Series 8 finale, ‘Death in Heaven,’ being zapped into oblivion by Missy. Perhaps she was merely teleported, just as Clara and Missy herself were in this year’s opening story, ‘The Magician’s Apprentice’/’The Witch’s Familiar’?
Here’s the official synopsis for ‘The Zygon Invasion’:
"The Zygons, a race of shapeshifting aliens, have been living in secret among us on Earth, unknown and unseen – until now! When Osgood is kidnapped by a rogue gang of Zygons, the Doctor, Clara and UNIT must scatter across the world in a bid to set her free. But will they reach her in time, and can they stop an uprising before it’s too late?"
