Doctor Who: Peter Capaldi Brightens Another Fan’s Day

Peter Capaldi’s Doctor may have a sterner demeanor on Doctor Who, but that does not mean that he does not care. When it comes to the fans, the Twelfth Doctor certainly shows that his hearts are in the right place.

It is widely known that Peter Capaldi loves being the Doctor. As a fan of Doctor Who growing up, this was his dream job as an actor, and it is one that he has truly made into his own. One may even be more likely to see Capaldi in the costume of the Doctor than just going about his normal day to day. With that embracing of the role, Capaldi has become a Doctor for the fans. While other Doctors had their appearances, it seems almost as though Capaldi goes out of his way to find Whovians and make their days better. He has led a tour during the Doctor Who Experience, and who can forget his moving video message to a nine year old fan who had lost his grandmother?

Now, Capaldi is back at it. After a 14 year old fan named Danny was unable to attend a recent Doctor Who festival in London, word of his plight spread over Twitter due to a visit from Frances Barber from Silk. Naturally, this reached Capaldi’s ears, and he was more than happy to help brighten the young fan’s day. Capaldi also announced his presence in a manner that should be expected. Entering Danny’s room, Capaldi announced that “There is a new doctor on the ward – and it’s me.” Capaldi spent some time with the young fan, and even gave him a sample of his artwork along with an autograph.

It is these moments that remind us of how much being the Doctor truly means to Capaldi. Yes, it is easy to know that he is a lifelong fan, and that this was his dream role. Yet, it is something completely different to see the pure joy he has in brightening the day of his fans, young and old alike. These are the moments that can make someone a fan for life, and can turn on people that may have never watched Doctor Who otherwise on to the show.
