Doctor Who Coloring Books to be Coming in April
By David Hill
Adult coloring books have become one of the latest hot trends, as people tap back into their childhood to find ways to relax. In April, Doctor Who will be tapping in to this market.
At this point, Doctor Who merchandise is seemingly everywhere. One can hardly go into any type of shopping center without seeing something pertaining to the show, be it a DVD collection of past seasons or those interesting Funko figures. Considering the popularity of the program, it makes sense that Doctor Who references would be everywhere.
Another area that has become popular in recent months is the latest proliferation of adult coloring books. While not necessarily different than those that children would use (these don’t have images that would be specifically adult in nature, or NSFW) they are marketed towards adults as a way to recapture their youth and relieve stress.
Now, these two universes are set to collide. Doctor Who will have a coloring book that is scheduled to come out on April 7th. Within will be various scenes from the past ten years of NuWho, with erupting volcanoes, Daleks, the encounter with Vincent Van Gogh and other moments that have made the newest incarnation what it has been over the years.

That is not the only related item set to be released. Furthering the desire to tap into the market of those who want to relieve the days of juice boxes and Saturday morning cartoons, a connect the dots book, or a ‘dot-to-doc’ book, will be released on July 7th. This collection is set to have 45 different images, with the Ponds, Clara and Captain Jack amongst those who will be immortalized within those pages.
For a show that has supposedly been losing fans according to ratings, it seems as though interest in Doctor Who, at least through a merchandising format, is alive and well. Perhaps these items, like the coloring books and connect the dots collections, will not silence those who predict nothing but doom for the show, but they do indicate the strong interest in all things Doctor Who.

Soon, there will be a new and fun way for fans of Doctor Who to show their creative side. It will certainly be interesting to see what artwork, or ideas, are presented once the coloring book hits the market.
