Celebrity Round Up: Clarke and Christie at BAFTAs, Maisie Williams Supports Animal Adoption
By Ani Bundel
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards (BAFTAs) were held over the weekend across the pond, and though none of our Game of Thrones cast members had much to do at the “British version of the Oscars,” we did have two show up. We were hoping for perhaps an interview or two from the red carpet, but sadly it seems Emilia Clarke has run out of overworked adjectives with which she can describe Season 6, while Gwendoline Christie is putting that Star Wars spoiler training to good use and not saying anything at all.
Still, they showed up and attempted to look their best. Emilia Clarke didn’t make my own personal Top Ten for the Red Carpet, due to red being such a safety color. But she did get an honorable mention for her Victoria Beckham dress because she wasn’t trying to channel “Mother of Dragons” with it.
Meanwhile, Gwen Christie’s dresses continues to improve—at least she’s finding dresses that flatter her figure. But the hair and makeup are way too “bright and dewy fresh” for the dark plum and regal gold. It’s incongruous.
Maisie Williams sadly did not have an invite to the BAFTAs, and their “Rising Star” award when to John Boyega for Star Wars. But she didn’t need to take home a BAFTA, since she already had scooped up a better prize.
Though perhaps not as regal or protective as Sophie Turner’s pup, who once played Lady on Game of Thrones, Williams’ new companion gets high marks for being both a mutt and a rescue dog. The RSPCA Bristol Dogs and Cats Home where she got this adorable little guy capitalized on the publicity, putting out a statement that they hope will inspire people to follow Williams’ example.
We are very excited that Maisie Williams visited us recently and adopted this gorgeous pooch, check out this lovely picture of Maisie with the delightful Sonny!
We have hundreds of animals waiting to meet their new loving families #adoptdontshop. P.S we can’t wait to see more pics of Sonny.
Overcrowding in animal shelters is a big problem both in the US and the UK, and many of the animals who wind up there are “destroyed” when no one takes them to a forever home. It’s good to see Williams supporting such a good cause as well as promoting it. Adopt, people. Don’t shop.
Fantastic family photo. If you need me, I’ll be squeeing over her puppy pictures.
