A compilation of various recent Doctor Who news from around the internet for February 17th, 2016

As writers for a fan site, it often feels as if we are patching some of these articles together with bits of tape and scraps of leftover wrapping paper, especially in the off season of Doctor Who. With that in mind, Imgur user and Doctor Who fan Soraxel has not only constructed the Twelfth Doctor’s new sonic screwdriver out of little more than bottle caps, cardboard, and hot glue, but they have also posted instructions on how to do so. The catch is that you will also need to disassemble both the Tenth and Eleventh Doctor’s sonic screwdrivers for parts. Regardless, it is a neat project.

The Stokesley School in North Yorkshire, United Kingdom has taken in an orphaned Dalek. The 5ft high replica Dalek was bid on and won at a convention by a father of a student of the school. They offered to take it in after learning that 1) the man’s wife was neither happy about the Dalek, nor consulted beforehand and 2) it did not fit through the front door of their home. It has been a big hit at the school, prompting fun activities such as pictures, pranks, and a creative writing competition. Also, according to The Northern Echo:

"A spokesman for the school said: “It caused great amusement positioned outside the headteacher’s office, believed by children to be part of a new behaviour management system."

FarSight Studios has successfully funded through Kickstarter a Doctor Who pinball machine for The Pinball Arcade, a pinball table simulator. According to TrueAchievements:

"After their successful kickstarted project for The Addams Family came to life, Farsight had $17,636 to spare thanks to the generosity of backers. The team put this money towards the $72,000 needed for the Doctor Who licences and backers smashed the $54,364 goal by pledging $70,929 from 2,389 backers."

According to the Kickstarter page:

"This table was released by Williams/Bally in 1992. . . . This design team did an amazing job of integrating elements of the show that fans love and pinball players can appreciate."
