Doctor Who: News Roundup, February 24th, 2016

A compilation of various recent Doctor Who news from around the internet for February 24th, 2016

In our news roundup from yesterday, we reported on Doctor Who Series 1-8 return to Amazon Prime’s online streaming service in March of this year. Soon after that news, it was reported in a Variety exclusive that Bell Media of Canada and BBC Worldwide of North America are teaming up in a “multiplatform licensing pact” to bring Doctor Who to the Canadian science fiction cable channel Space, as well as the CraveTV online streaming service.

"CraveTV will carry “Doctor Who” beginning with season nine this summer; seasons one through eight will be available exclusively on the service by the end of this year; and season 10 and additional upcoming episodes will also be streamed exclusively on CraveTV following their full-season broadcast on Space."

Oh, Canada, you lucky devil!

Fans of Doctor Who are certainly going to need all the help that they can get relieving stress as they wait for Series Ten. About a month ago, we reported that officially licensed BBC Doctor Who coloring books and connect the dots books for adults would be released on April 7th and July 7th, respectively. It appears, however, that there may have been some error by our original source, Radio Times, who reported on the titles Doctor Who: Travels In Time Coloring Book and Doctor Who: Dot-to-Doc. According to an article by Time yesterday these two titles will be released on July 26, 2016, and sometime in October, respectively, and the Doctor Who Coloring Book will be released on March 1st, 2016. All three publications are by Penguin Young Readers.

More from Doctor Who

Speaking of adults being childish, as the Fourth Doctor said to Sarah Jane in the classic Doctor Who serial ‘Robot,’ “There’s no point in being grown up if you can’t be childish sometimes.” Susanna Reid of Good Morning Britain would certainly agree. On yesterday’s show, she, Piers Morgan, and Bill Paterson all had a laugh when Reid fiddled with an action figure of Dr. Edwin Bracewell Paterson’s character from Doctor Who. Daily Express describes Morgan’s reaction as “mortified,” but that seems to be quite an exaggeration. Morgan comments, “I don’t love what you’re doing with that model. It’s getting very dark,” despite Reid only making it wave.
