Colin Baker, Ian McNeice, and John Challis of Doctor Who are scheduled to make appearances at the first ever Guildford Comic-Con.

In an article that we posted earlier today, we discussed Louise Jameson’s recent comments about the low pay that BBC actors received during the classic days of Doctor Who. The actors from that time are able to get a much more sizeable paycheck, simply by attending fan conventions.

More from Doctor Who

On August 27th and 28th of 2016, Guildford Comic-Con at Guildford Spectrum in Guildford, Surrey, England will be one of the newest additions to the many geeky fan conventions around the globe. (You can access their Facebook event page here.) Naturally, some members of the Doctor Who family will be in attendance. The biggest name will be the Sixth Doctor, Colin Baker. Also in attendance will be John Challis who played a mercenary named Scorby in the television story ‘The Seeds of Doom,’ and Ian McNeice who played the recurring role of Winston Churchill on both the television series and for Big Finish audio. Also for Big Finish, McNeice voiced Zeus in ‘Immortal Beloved‘ and Reginald Harcourt in ‘The Renaissance Man.’

The event is being organized by Filmfair UK, which also organizes conventions in Watford, Northampton, Reading, and Wakefield. According to Get Surrey, Filmfair UK owner John Gould “began organising his own conventions four years ago and has been working in the industry for 10 years.”

"He said: “I found some events were not correctly organised so I decided, instead of complaining about it to do it myself, so I took the plunge.“Our show is a family event so we are trying to make sure it has a little bit of everything for everyone’s palate.“We will have around 20 actors over the two days in Guildford.”"
