Doctor Who Spinoff Class to Begin Filming in April

Doctor Who may not begin filming until May, but that does not mean that everything is quiet. In fact, the new spinoff, Class, is set to begin filming in April.

Series Ten of Doctor Who is set to begin filming in May, despite quite a few questions. We still do not have a new companion for the Doctor, and considering the various changes that will be happening in the future, that is to be expected.

Meanwhile, the latest spinoff, Class, is slated to begin filming in April. However, like with Doctor Who, there are still quite a few questions surrounding the program. Not only is the BBC reportedly unsure as to how to air the eight episodes, but they have yet to confirm the cast on the show. While it is said that new villains, aliens and heroes will come into being, nothing has been revealed as of yet.

More from Doctor Who

It is interesting that, with both shows set to begin filming in the relative near future, not much information has been revealed. Depending on when Class begins filming, that could be as soon as 31 days away, and Doctor Who is going to be in two more months. It seems strange to think that the BBC has not yet finalized some of this information, such as the Doctor’s next companion or the cast of the spinoff.

Perhaps this is by design. In keeping details quiet, releasing them over the course of the year and in small doses, the BBC can build the excitement around both Doctor Who and Class. Given the changes coming on Doctor Who, and the new spinoff, this may prove to be a solid strategy to draw more viewers.

Hopefully, more details will come out about Class soon. It will be interesting to see who the BBC selects to star in the show, and to see how, exactly, they set everything up with these creatures coming out of the woodwork at Coal Hill. With a month to go before filming, we should know more soon.
