A compilation of various recent Doctor Who news from around the internet for March 22nd, 2016
Eve Myles was at Sci-Fi Weekender at Camp SFW in North Wales this past weekend. She sat down backstage for an exclusive interview with the Daily Post and discussed, among other things, her beloved character, Gwen Cooper of Torchwood. She humbly credits the show’s writing, namely that of Russell T Davies, for the popularity of Gwen with fans. As any fan will tell you, however, Myles’ performance certainly adds to the character’s appeal. She further elaborates that Gwen is “modern and fierce” with a good character arch, and that it is important for a hero to have flaws in order to be relatable.
When asked if there are any plans for Series Five of Torchwood to be produced, she apologetically stated that she did not know, but is open to the idea.
"“It’s not the type of character that’s easy to say ‘goodbye’ to. Russell T Davies is not the type of writer, or boss, or friend that you’d ever say ‘no’ to because you know that whatever he pens you’re gonna love doing ’cause he’s a genius and I love working for him. If the day comes, or the call comes, and the script arrives, I’ll be there, but for the time being I have to get on with other things.”"
She says that her work with Big Finish has been enjoyable for her, calling their Torchwood adventures “brave and smart,” but she is ready to wrap things up with them.
