Screencap Breakdown: “The Red Woman”
By Ani Bundel
The idea that Jorah would magically find Dany’s ring in the plains was sort of a joke when the trailers dropped, but I thought the scene where Daario and Jorah found the spot where Dany was surrounded was not only really well done, but made it believable.
Just head to the bulls-eye of non-trampled grass.
Another great overview image from Dany’s prison camp. Also a gorgeous vista from the Bardenas Reales national park, where the show filmed in Navarre.
They’re always saying that!
Poor Moro; he can’t even insist on something being the best thing in life without an argument.
The other great overview shot of this scene. You are No one, the Millionth of Your Name.
Quick question on this scene: did it weird anyone else out that those on the steps didn’t react to what was happening to Arya at all?
Also, I liked how this established that the Waif isn’t doing this as a personal thing. She’s training Arya to fight by ear. Let’s hope she does better next time.
Back to the Wall, and the key scene of the episode, where Melisandre confronts herself in the mirror.
And who she really is, under all that glamour and magic. (Note that the image flips when she goes from young to old in the mirror. I kind of love that detail.)
Those are Melisandre’s eyes underneath all that old age make up. They’re eyes that have seen too much, and don’t know what to make of any of it anymore. There’s only one thing to do: go to bed and hope it all is better in the morning.
