Last week, we brought you the news that brother and sister John and Carole E Barrowman are writing a Torchwood series for Titan Comics. Currently, the pair are promoting their new new young adult fantasy novel, Conjuror. The book, which is the first in the Orion Chronicles series, will be released on May 5th, 2016 and is now available for pre-order.

John and Carole will be touring the United Kingdom from the 6th to the 13th of May to sign copies. The first stop will be at Waterstones Cardiff, which will be free with no registration required. They are willing to sign other books of theirs, but no other items. Also, they will not be posing for pictures due to time constraints. For more information, head to John Barrowman’s website. On April 23rd, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Museum held a conference titled Dimensions of Doctor Who, which was part of the annual Cambridge Science Festival. The event featured talks by ten research scientists from from MIT and Harvard University on the subject of the possible advancement of technology related to that seen on Doctor Who. The topics of discussion were as follows:

  • From Adipose to Zygons: Looking for Life and Why We’re all Made of Star Stuff
  • How the Silents Can Take Your Memories
  • Better Than The Doctor: Regeneration Non-Fiction
  • Cyber Limbs: You Will Now Be Upgraded
  • Using Shape-Shifting Matter To Build the TARDIS
  • Brain Mechanisms For Moral Decision-Making (Why The Daleks Don’t Care)

They also offered the following fun activities:

  • Translating English to Gallifreyan with Loren Sherman
  • Electronics for Neural-Prosthetics
  • Build Your Own Adipose
  • Community-Knit Scarf For The Doctor
  • TARDIS Scavenger Hunt

Yesterday, Radio Times held their online League of Fandoms: Division 1 Match 3. Fans were able to vote on their favorites of various pairings of science fiction, fantasy, and other franchises from both the big and small screens. Doctor Who was pitted against Star Wars, with the former eking out a win of 50.79% to 49.21%.
