Game of Thrones Screencap Breakdown: Oathbreaker
By Ani Bundel
Game of Thrones is not only a fantastic show—it’s a feast for the eyes. From the costumes to the sets to the CGI, every episode has gorgeous moments and amazing acting beats that are well worth freezing in time and considering. Today’s Best Vista Award goes to Castillo de Zafra, the historical location where the production filmed the Tower of Joy scene. The Spanish Tourism Board would like to thank Game of Thrones for this screencap.
Let’s talk some of the best images from this season’s third episode, “Oathbreaker”.
To the disappointment of ladies everywhere, the show did not see fit to go Full Frontal Harington. We’ll have to take Tormund Giantsbane’s word on his member.
Instead, we wrapped him swiftly in a cloak and interrogated him about the afterlife. SPOILER ALERT! There isn’t one.
These people don’t know that. I suppose they think they will be sacrificed now to the Night’s Watch God.
Two things about this shot: One, it’s the first time we’ve seen Sad Jon Snow smile so huge. He really is a different man now. Two, he looks like Ned here. This shot recalls when Ned and Robert embraced in the pilot episode, and I don’t think that’s an accident.
It’s almost eerie. Moving on…
Sam and Gilly are on a boat. Good for them.
But seriously, if Sam thinks that his father is going to buy for one moment that this is Sam’s son, he’s fooling himself as much as he is fooling himself that Gilly will be okay in Horn Hill without him.
