Game of Thrones Episode 604—”Book of the Stranger”—Preview

Game of Thrones Season 6 will continue this Sunday with “Book of the Stranger.” If we base our opinion purely on the title, this will be the best episode this season, and possibly of the series. But just in case there’s more to it, here’s HBO’s official synopsis:

"Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) strikes a deal. Jorah (Iain Glen) and Daario (Michiel Huisman) undertake a difficult task. Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Cersei (Lena Headey) try to improve their situation."

So we’ll finally catch up with Jorah and Daario following our brief check-in in with them in the premiere. Based on the trailer below, it looks like we’ll be spending time with Daenerys in Vaes Dothrak, as well, and then there’s Tyrion striking a nebulous deal in Meereen. In short, it looks like this’ll be an Essos-heavy episode, although the title suggests that those pesky Sparrows will be causing trouble in King’s Landing, as well.

  • Start Time: May 15, 2016, 9 p.m. EST
  • TV Info: HBO
  • Episode: Season 6, Episode 4, “Book of the Stranger”
  • Writers: David Benioff and Dan Weiss
  • Director: Daniel Sackheim
  • Run time: 59 minutes
  • Live Stream: Stream 1Stream 2

You’ll note that, at 59 minutes, this is the longest episode of Season 6 yet. And that’s the way it’ll remain until we reach Episode 8. Click here for more info on that. The trailer suggests that we’ll be visiting with characters not mentioned in the synopsis, including Littlefinger, Sansa, and the Ironborn, so maybe it’ll need the extra time.

I can’t help but notice that Jon Snow is nowhere to be seen, not in the trailer, synopsis, or official episode stills. He might need some me time after coming back from the dead and quitting the Night’s Watch.

See you tomorrow, where we’ll break everything from the new episode down!
