Game of Thrones Episode 605—”The Door”—Preview

Game of Thrones Season 6 continues this Sunday with the enigmatically titled “The Door.” What door could they be talking about? The Moon Door? The door to the dragon’s den in Meereen? The door to Margaery’s cell? The door to Daenerys’ heart? Let’s see if HBO’s official synopsis sheds any light on these questions.

"Tyrion seeks a strange ally. Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) learns a great deal. Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) goes on a mission. Arya (Maisie Williams) is given a chance to prove herself."

A lot of that is intriguing, although I’m probably most excited for the Bran bits. All of his visions have been very interesting so far. As you can see from the still above, he’ll return to Winterfell in “The Door,” but he’ll also go elsewhere, as you can see in the trailer below.

Is there a door in the past that Bran will be looking through? I’m cracking this mystery if it kills me.

At 57 minutes, “The Door” is a little shorter that last week’s super-sized episode, but still nice and lengthy. The trailer gives us a look at the “strange ally” Tyrion will seek (the new Red Women, who’s name is Kinvara), teases a Littlefinger-Sansa reunion, and gives us a glimpse of the kingsmoot, wherein the Ironborn will try their hand at democracy. Good for them.

Also, Arya gets a new mission. Don’t bungle it this time, okay?

As happened last week, Jon Snow is making himself scarce—he’s not in the trailer and he’s not in the synopsis, although there is a profile shot of him among the official episode stillsKit Harington has said that Season 6 is his biggest season yet, but he’s not being fronted in the promotional materials. Maybe HBO is saving that for the back half of the season.

See you tomorrow, when we’ll break everything from the new episode down past the point of sense!
