At 59 minutes, “No One” is the longest episode we’ve gotten in a while, and is tied with “Book of the Stranger” as the longest episode of the season so far. How will the show spend that time? Here’s HBO’s official synopsis:
"While Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) weighs his options, Cersei (Lena Headey) answers a request. Tyrion’s (Peter Dinklage) plans bear fruit. Arya (Maisie Williams) faces a new test."
Tyrion’s hatched a couple of plans this season. Do we think this synopsis refers to his pact with the slavers or the deal he cut with Kinvara the Red Priestess in “The Door?” Based on one HBO’s official promotional images, I’m gonna go with the latter.
It looks like the Red Priests and Priestesses will be out in force keeping Daenerys popular.
But I think that “No One” will mainly focus on Jaime and Cersei facing down their separate sets of problems. Most of the promotional images feature their plotlines, and notice that the synopsis links them together. They also have a lot of screentime in the trailer:
The Hound is in there, too, swinging an axe at someone I doubt is going to be alive much longer. Arya also makes an appearance, but honestly, she’s not featured as prominently as I’d expect, given that the episode is named for her. In any case, we’re going to have to follow up on her close encounter with the business end of the Waif’s dagger from “The Broken Man.”
This image has caused quite a stir. Head here to find out what that’s all about.
As usual, some characters don’t turn up in any of the promotional materials, which could mean they’re sitting the episode out, or that they don’t play a big part. Or it could mean nothing. Absent this week: Daenerys and friends (for the second week in a row), Bran’s band (ditto), Team Stark, the Ironborn, and Ramsay Bolton. (And I’m kind of just assuming the show has washed its hands of the Dornish, although I could be wrong.)
What do you hope will happen in “No One?” What do you dread? Talk about anything and everything having to do with the episode here, both before and during the actual show. We’ll be updating the site with reactions to big moments as the episode goes on, and follow up with longer recaps a bit later.
