The release of details on Series Ten of Doctor Who has gone from a trickle to a torrent overnight.
The first readthrough for Series Ten of Doctor Who happened today. Those in attendance included Peter Capaldi, Pearl Mackie, and writer Sarah Dollard, who wrote the episode ‘Face the Raven’ for Series Nine.
Other writers for the upcoming season include Frank Cottrell-Boyce, who wrote ‘In the Forest of the Night’ for Series Eight, as well as newcomer Mike Bartlett of Doctor Foster. It has previously been reported that both Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss will also be contributing to the writing for Series Ten.
Matt Lucas of Little Britain will be returning as Nardole for the opening episode of Series Ten, with other appearances on the show to follow. The episode will be written by Steven Moffat, who is “delighted and slightly amazed” about Lucas’ return. Moffat says of the actor,
"“One of the greatest comedy talents on planet Earth is being unleashed on all of time and space.”"
