Note that Jon takes off his belt and scabbard and proceeds to lose it. He knows there’s no point in having a place to sheath his sword now.
Just as he’s about to be trampled, his army comes up behind him and protects him.
This moment where he turns around and is like “wait, what? what the heck?” Jon has completely lost control of this battle.
The front ranks reach each other with a mighty clash, and the fighting begins in earnest.
Both sides notch their arrows, but just before Team Stark sends a volley, Davos realizes this is a fool’s errand, and will simply decimate his own men.
Ramsay, on the other hand, doesn’t seem bothered by this fact and commands his army to loose, and we get this fantastic shot, silent but for the whizzing sound of the arrows flying through the air and landing in the middle of the battle.
Forward he cried, from the rear
And the front ranks died
The General sat, and the lines on the map
Moved from side to side.
