A bunch of fantastically intriguing photos from the June 2016 set of Doctor Who were just released.
As fans of Doctor Who gear up for the upcoming Series Ten — which feels like an eternity away — they resourcefully find ways of entertaining themselves with things related to the show. One way is to sleuth the internet for behind the scenes content.
Yesterday, we shared a photo and a video of Pearl Mackie on the set of Series Ten, tweeted by the official Doctor Who Twitter account. Today, Flickr user mugim0e posted some great photos from the set of the current filming of Doctor Who. We will show you just a small sampling of them below.
Bill appears to be a student at St. Luke’s University Bristol.

Is Bill dancing? Did she almost step in something? If this is part of a scene, we will find out eventually.

As fans of Doctor Who know all too well, running is a major part of the program. As we can see from these shots of Bill, the running continues in Series Ten.

I wonder what prompted her to take off her jacket and t-shirt. Whatever the reason, judging by her attire, it is likely that the scene from her introductory clip is in this episode. In any case, how rad is Bill’s outfit? That tank top could be a nod to the Fourth Doctor’s iconic scarf. Both wardrobe and Mackie must be having a blast putting together ensembles for her character.

Here are a couple of shots of the Doctor, displaying Peter Capaldi’s superb ability to be intensely dramatic. (P.S. That blue coat lining!)

Here is an eerie picture of an actor who appears to be Stephanie Hyam, who is playing a character named Jill Machin. (There are some better shots of her, but I just like the atmosphere of this one.)

While Steven Moffat has previously stated that Mackie will not appear on the show until 2017, IMDB credits her as being in the cast of the 2016 Christmas special. The snow in some scenes might also be an indication that this is so. The inconsistency in the presence of the snow raises a few questions: Did it melt in a short amount of time? (Living in New England, I know that this is entirely possible.) Or is time travel the explanation? Or are they shooting more than one episode at a time? Time will tell…
