Game of Thrones Screencap Breakdown: “The Winds of Winter”
By Ani Bundel
Jaime looks horrifed to see an entire section of King’s Landing burned so hard it’s still smoking.
Just a reminder for the slower people in the back that Jaime *became the Kingslayer* and chose to ruin his reputation for the rest of his life to stop the Mad King from setting those underground stores of wildfire ablaze and burning sections of King’s Landing to the ground.
And he returns to discover his sister has done that very thing, albeit on a smaller scale.
And she’s going to be crowned Queen for it.
Jaime’s face here might be called “inscrutable,” but I think he’s seeing his sister for who she really is for the first time in their lives.
Cersei Lannister, First of her Name, The Mad Queen.
Don’t worry, her reign won’t last long.
Because across the Narrow Sea, as the sun rises, ships are setting sail. Some are manned by Ironborn.
Some of the ships, likely those taken from the Masters, have been refitted with dragons instead of harpies.
Some are manned by Unsullied.
Note that there are Dornish and Tyrell sails, too. (To those who wanted to know how Varys got back: he brought extra fleet with him!)
Some are manned by Dothraki…the ones who aren’t vomiting over the sides of the deck, that is.
So that’s five different groups Dany has brought togeher. (Six if you count any freed slaves from Meereen who came with.) And that’s not even counting her air force.
Dany’s ship is in the lead, heading west.
(By the way, I love the black version of her gown from last year, with the dragon scale sleeve caps.)
Winter may have come….but now Dany has, too. Fire and ice, on a collision course for next year.
