Ten questions Game of Thrones Season 7 needs to answer
By Corey Smith
2. Is Jaime going to stop Cersei?
In the closing minutes of Season 6, fans were left wondering what exactly Jaime would think of Cersei’s rampage. Jaime almost certainly realizes that Tommen is dead as well, as Cersei could not, and would not, sit the Iron Throne so long as any of her children remained living. So what does Jaime think about all this?
The look Jaime gave Cersei in the throne room implied that he wasn’t happy. After all, Jaime killed the Mad King Aerys Targaryen, forever tainting his own name, in order to prevent the exact sort of mass killing Cersei pulled off in “The Winds of Winter.” That can’t sit well with him.
Taking all that into account, might it be Jaime who finally takes Cersei down? It could happen, especially if Cersei is only getting started with her descent into madness. Thrones producers were fairly clear that one of the things that always held Cersei back was her love for her children, and with that no longer an issue, all bets are off. We’ve seen Jaime begin to drift to the light as well. Despite his attempts to deny it, Jaime has grown a conscience over the course of the series. Where that conscience takes the Kingslayer remains to be seen.
