This may be a drill, but it is pretty damn close to being the real thing.
So, here I am in the wee hours of the morning. I just got done writing an article (that will post later today) about John Barrowman’s awesome cosplaying at this year’s Comic-Con International: San Diego… When, lo and behold, a Torchwood Google alert appears in my email inbox. I am exhausted, but decide to click on it, none the less.
What I find is that Andrea Reiher of Zap2It has posted an article reporting that Barrowman has just told Comic-Con HQ on Friday that he is “currently working very hard to bring Torchwood back to TV.”
Oh. My. Glob.
Well, it looks as if I am not getting any sleep tonight, folks.
Anyway, he said that he spoke with an unnamed person over the phone on Monday about the matter. He also made sure to stress that he was serious.
"“The fans know me well enough. I’m only going to say it if I mean it and believe it.”"

This is not the first time that he has expressed his desire to resurrect the Doctor Who spin-off, though it seems that his current efforts have gotten him closer to that goal than ever before. When speaking at the 2015 winter TCA press tour, he mentioned his hope for the Big Finish audio adventures to lead to something even bigger. Knowing just how strong the fan base is for the franchise, he feels that it is “silly” to not give them what they want.
Barrowman is also aware that Titan Comics may be worried, but he is sure that the show’s return will ultimately be good for their sales. Both he and his sister Carole — who writes the comics with him — will be on the Torchwood panel at Comic-Con on Saturday.
It is unknown at this point whether Torchwood will remain on Starz, or return to the BBC. I am hoping for the latter, but will take what I can get.
