Jason Momoa has entered the halls of eternity. According to Entertainment Weekly, the actor known to Game of Thrones fans everywhere as Khal Drogo recently visited the Guinness brewery in Dublin to sample the Mano Brew, a beer created in his honor. Happily, he thoroughly documented his visit on Instagram:
The Mano Brew comes in a dark bottle bearing Momoa’s signature. Check out some more shots of his trip to the brewery, including a video of him walking the floor in a very excited fashion.
That’s a man who enjoys his beer. Apropos of nothing in particular, Momoa’s family is pretty freaking adorable.
Anyway, Momoa’s trip to the Guinness brewery sheds light on a mystery from earlier in the week. Recently, Momoa posted a picture of himself drinking with Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss in a bar somewhere in Ireland. As we reported earlier today, cast members are showing up in Belfast, Northern Ireland, long the center of production for Game of Thrones, as preproduction on Season 7 gets underway. Naturally, the timing of Momoa’s visit raised a few eyebrows. Was Khal Drogo returning for Season 7?
Momoa’s brewery trip doesn’t put that rumor definitively to rest, but it does suggest another reason for the photo. If he was in the area to visit the brewery in Dublin, he might have stopped by Belfast first to say hello to his former bosses. (Dublin is roughly a two-hour drive from Belfast, incidentally.)
Note that he tagged the photo @Guinness, as well. By the by, I love how Dan Weiss is glancing at Momoa with that slightly bemused expression on his face. The guy’s bound to be fun in bars.
Is this the end of the Drogo-on-Season 7 rumors? We have a long filming season ahead of us, so never say never.
