More Game of Thrones cast members are turning up in Belfast, long the production hub for the show. Two more actors were recently spotted. The presence of these particular actors constitutes SPOILERS, so if you’d like to remain clean, please exit the post now.

Okay, let’s get spoiled. First up, according to multiple accounts, Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont) is in the area.

What does this mean? Jorah the Andal’s story is not over. This wasn’t completely unexpected, as Glen was spotted on an airplane to Belfast alongside Gwendoline Christie (Brienne) some time ago. But still, a first-hand account is one thing and a photo is another.

When Daenerys ordered Jorah to find a cure for his greyscale in Season 6’s “The Door,” I thought that might be the last we saw of her ever-faithful companion. But apparently there’s more. What will Jorah get up to in Season 7? The floor is open for educated guesses and wild speculation. Now if only we could pin down whether Michiel Huisman (Daario Naharis) is coming back…

The other bit of news is more major. According to Watchers on the Wall, Joe Dempsie is in Belfast. Dempsie, you may recalled, played Gendry the blacksmith during the first three seasons of the show. He was last seen taking Davos’ advice and rowing the hell away from Dragonstone, which probably saved him a ritual death by burning. And now, he’s at the center of production for Game of Thrones Season 7.

You’ll note that this picture seems more candid than the one of Glen, so maybe we’re not supposed to know about this piece of information yet. Regardless, we cannot unknow what we know, and we know it.

Season 6 was chock-full of returning characters. A list:

  • Bran, Meera, Hodor, Yara Greyjoy, and the Hound—returned after one season away
  • Beric Dondarrion, Thoros of Mry, Walder Frey, Balon Greyjoy, Edmure Tully, and Brynden Tully—returned after two seasons away
  • Benjen Stark—returned after four seasons away

It looks like Gendry will join their ranks soon enough.

It’s harder to guess what his role will be. In the books, he sticks around with the Brotherhood Without Banners, and stays with the organization as it degrades under the leadership of Lady Stoneheart. That plotline seems like it’s a non-starter on the show, since the Brotherhood sold Gendry to Melisandre in Season 3 and we didn’t see him among their number when we caught back up with the group in Season 6.

Perhaps Gendry rowed back to King’s Landing and resumed his old life? That would be risky, since as one of Robert Baratheon’s bastard sons, he could represent a threat to Cersei’s rule. But then again, she probably has bigger problems at the moment.

What, if anything, do you think Gendry will get up to in Season 7? It’s the time of the season for speculation.
