Now Daniel Radcliffe wants to be on Game of Thrones
By Dan Selcke
More specifically, Daniel Radcliffe wants to die on Game of Thrones, but you can’t do the second without doing the first.
The actor revealed his desire during a recent interview with Digital Spy. As you can imagine, he’s been approached about doing TV before (see him in the Sky Arts’ pitch-black comedy A Young Doctor’s Notebook some time—yeesh is that thing bleak), but little has spoke to him as yet. “I’ve recently read a couple of really good TV pilot scripts,” he said. “But then it’s signing on for seven years.”
So maybe an extended period of time on a TV show isn’t for him. But what about a quick stay on Game of Thrones?
"I would love to. If they want to just bring me in and f**king kill me, I would be so happy to do that."
Unlikely as it is, it would be pretty funny to bring Radcliffe onto Thrones just to kill him. I can see the Harry Potter crossover memes now.
Then again, the show did just hire just hire top-shelf British actor Jim Broadbent to play a role in Season 7. And it’s not like there aren’t plenty of random soldiers who die on any given season of the show. The producers could probably make a Radcliffe cameo happen if they wanted, but so far they’ve been pretty good about not bringing on celebrities just because. Sure, they brought Coldplay drummer Will Champion to play a musician during the Red Wedding, but his part was so minor you wouldn’t have noticed it you weren’t looking.
Actors have expressed interest in the show before. People as diverse as Ed Sheeran and Helen Mirren have said they’d like to be on, but so far none of their pleas have been answered.
I dunno. Maybe Radcliffe could play the random City Guard described in the Season 7 casting calls a while back. He sounds good and doomed.
All wizards must die.
In other celebrities-like-Game-of-Thrones-too news, Kobe Bryant revealed his favorite Game of Thrones character on Twitter. It was Sunday, the Emmys were going on, and Bryant was in the mood to cheer on his favorite team.
When a fan asked after his favorite character, how could the former Los Angeles Lakers superstar not answer?
So Bryant’s an Arya man, huh? A fine choice. He also revealed his personal favorite episode:
Man, his knowledge goes pretty deep. Maybe he has a lot of free time in his retirement.
