Doctor Who Comics and Novels Coming to the U.S. Market
By David Hill
One of the frustrations of being a Doctor Who fan in the United States is a lack of outlets from which to purchase the books and comics. A solution to that problem is around the corner.
Every time a new Doctor Who comic book comes out, we look forward to seeing the story and reading the new adventure. The same is true for the novelizations; these new adventures, featuring familiar faces, let us feel like our favorite Doctors are still out there travelling through time and space. It is a way for these characters to live on.
Unfortunately, for Whovians outside of the United Kingdom, getting these items can be a bit difficult. Yes, the internet makes it a lot easier to purchase items internationally, but one still has to wait for those packages to arrive. Sometimes, it can take weeks, or months, to receive them.
Now, there may be a solution. Diamond Comic Distributors and Penguin Random House have announced a distribution deal, where those books and comics will be brought to the American market. This is not for just a few select items — the whole line of Doctor Who comics and novels will be brought over.

It is a bit surprising that it has taken this long for such an arrangement to be made. Doctor Who is virtually just as popular stateside as it is in England, with merchandise selling at a rapid clip. Having those comics and novels available to fans in the United States would just help increase the earning power of the show.
Likewise, those fans outside of the United Kingdom now have a new line of Doctor Who related merchandise to explore. Having additional adventures of the Doctors of the past and present will allow their stories to continue, making it as though one’s favorite incarnation never left.
