Filming is well underway on Game of Thrones Season 7, but that doesn’t mean the cast members don’t have other irons in the fire. For example, Kit Harington has a big role in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, the upcoming new entry in Activision’s long-running first-person shooter franchise. (When those games started coming out over a decade ago, they were set during World War II. Now there’s set in the future—go figure.) Harington plays Rear Admiral Salen Kotch, the villain of the piece. He’s the leader of a separatist movement whose machinations spark war throughout the soldier system. Have a watch:
As you can see, Activision has modeled Kotch’s look after Harington—it’s not limited to his voice. Jon Snow, why are you trying to “eradicate the authority of the Earth?” Focus on the White Walkers.
Incidentally, the game also stars UFC star Conor McGregor as one of Kotch’s lieutenants. It’s a rag-tag spacebound crew. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare comes out on PlayStation 4, XBox One, and Microsoft Windows on November 4.
Next, you may have this photo, of Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane) and Bella Ramsey (Lyanna Mormont) floating around today:
As Hivju points out, Ramsey has been cast in a Netflix original series called The Worst Witch. She’ll play Mildred Hubble, a student at Miss Cackle’s Academy for Witches. If she brings the fire she brought to Game of Thrones, the show could be a hit.
Based on a series of children’s books by Jill Murphy, The Worst Witch was adapted for TV before—the first series ran on ITV from 1998-2001. There was a also a TV movie made in 1986. Oddly enough, that film starred Diana Rigg (Olenna Tyrell), so Ramsey isn’t the first Game of Thrones alumnus to get involved in this series.
The TV movie also starred legendary creepy fellow Tim Curry. For no reason, here he is singing a trippy song about Halloween. Enjoy.
Over in the wide world of Twitter, Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) jumped to the aid of fellow British actress Emma Watson (Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies) after British journalist Rod Liddle disparaged the Watson for a recent speech at the UN. First, Liddle’s criticism:
And then Turner’s defense:
British genre actresses unite!
Finally, Gordan Fulton, who played a minor role on Game of Thrones, has died.
You remember Fulton as Lord Portan, a northern lord who visited Bran Stark at Winterfell in “The North Remembers,” the second season premiere. It wasn’t a significant part, but Fulton collected a wide variety of stage, screen, and radio roles during his career, and will be missed.
