Westworld Theory: Dolores fulfilling Arnold’s pyramid

Ford said that his former partner Arnold believed that consciousness was a pyramid, could Dolores be fulfilling the empty top part of the pyramid?

Ford’s mysterious former partner Arnold has spawned another Westworld theory. Ford of course wanted to create an immersive world where guests could reveal their true selves, while Arnold wanted to give the hosts real consciousness. So early on it seems lines were drawn between Ford and his mysterious partner.

Ford explained to Bernard that Arnold was using a pyramid as his template for what creates real consciousness. The bottom of the pyramid was memory, followed by improvisation, and self-interest. Dolores has already shown memory by remembering bits of her past, she’s improvised by using the gun, and she’s shown self-interest by fleeing instead of staying at the ranch.

So we know that Dolores is already making her way through the pyramid, but the top space is blank.

So what could the last piece of the puzzle be?

We think it might be the maze. The maze is the final test to prove that a host has consciousness. We know a lot about the maze already, like that it’s not for the man in black. If the maze isn’t for guests perhaps it’s for hosts. Perhaps going to the maze is the final thing needed for a host to prove that it has consciousness.

This of course leads us farther down the path of Westworld being a biblical allegory. Could the mysterious Arnold be the other half to Ford? It’s obvious Ford is at the very least not telling us everything about Arnold. Ford says Arnold is dead, but he could still be alive. Many Westworld Theory fans seem to think Arnold could be the man in black, but we don’t think the man in black knows enough about the hosts and park to be Arnold.
