7. Shipwrecked

With choppy waters and hurricanes, the high seas are a dangerous place at the best of times, and that’s before you factor in dragons that might accidentally incinerate a ship with a sneeze. With the size of her fleet, might Daenerys find herself shipwrecked, or at least see part of her armada end up that way?

And it needn’t be a natural disaster that waylays the Dragon Queen. Dany might be troubled by an enemy fleet. Word is that Euron Greyjoy will join forces with Cersei Lannister before Daenerys makes landfall in Westeros. If Euron built anywhere close to those thousands ships he wanted, the king of the Iron Islands could wreak havoc with Dany’s fleet while it’s still en route to wherever it’s going.

And although the plot of the show has largely overtaken the novels, there’s an unused storyline from the books that could be incorporated here. It’s about a character named Aegon Targaryen, who may or may not be Daenerys’ brother. In A Dance with Dragons, Aegon sails to Westeros from Essos with a fleet intent on invasion, but many of his forces are scattered by storms along the way. It’s unlikely that Aegon himself will appear on the small screen, but HBO could use the general plot points from his story for Daenerys.
