2. King’s Landing

Since Daenerys’ ancestors first conquered Westeros and built King’s Landing, the city has remained the seat of power for the Seven Kingdoms. Retaking King’s Landing is Daenerys’ primary goal, and as such, it’s one of her most likely landing spots upon arriving in Westeros.

When Cersei blasted the Sept of Baelor to high heaven in the Season 6 finale, she lost the Tyrells as an ally. The Lannisters now stand alone against the Tyrells, Dorne, and Daenerys. There’s no better time than the present to retake the Iron Throne, so why wait?

After years of civil war, the continent of Westeros is weary and depleted, and Cersei has seen fit to alienate people further. Considering that Season 7 will only be seven episodes long, producers will want to get right to the action. Yes, there’s also Euron to think of, but it doesn’t seem likely that he’ll be able to muster enough forces to stop Dany from landing in Westeros. King’s Landing also sits right on Blackwater Bay, allowing Dany to land her forces near the city and quickly begin a siege.

There is little in the way to stop the armies of Dorne and the Reach from quickly marching on King’s Landing, which paints a rather grim picture for Cersei and company. Daenerys is returning to Westeros for one thing, and one thing only: the Iron Throne. Sailing directly for King’s Landing makes more sense than all of the other options, except maybe one.
