Over the past few days, both the BBC and BBC America have been sharing all sorts of Doctor Who related goodies. We have been given a synopsis and air times for the upcoming special, ‘The Return of Doctor Mysterio,’ which will air on Christmas Day. There is the smashing new promo image for said special, as well as Twitter stickers to commemorate the release of the newly animated ‘The Power of the Daleks’ (found in the same article as the promo image). There is even a Doctor Who Easter egg in the new Sherlock promo image.
Well, in this week’s Doctor Who: The Fan Show, host Christel Dee gives an answer to the question that has been on everyone’s lips since actor Pearl Mackie was revealed back in April as the Doctor’s newest companion: Bill who? It turns out that her surname is Potts. Bill Potts. For those who thought about Billie Piper (former companion Rose Tyler) when they first saw the name “Bill,” this combination of initials in particularly interesting. The name was revealed by showrunner Steven Moffat in a talk at the Oxford Union. Dee, delightful as ever, delivers a cute joke about Mrs. Potts, the cook who was transformed into a teapot from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.
"“It’s a tale as old as time.”"
