The Governors on Class Revealed to be Working for Doctor Who Villains!
By David Hill
Over the course of the latest Doctor Who spin-off, Class, we have wondered who the mysterious Governors are. Well, in the finale, they have been revealed to be a terrifying race with whom we have been familiar for quite some time.

A hint dropped by actor Fady Elsayed (Ram Singh on Class) back in July has come to fruition.
Of all of the new creatures introduced in the revival of Doctor Who, the Weeping Angels may be the most iconic. As living creatures that appear to be nothing more than statues, they can be virtually anywhere at any time — in cemeteries, in gardens, in museums, as gargoyles on buildings, or in any other location where one would find statuary.
Given how easy it would be for a Weeping Angel to disguise itself, and to appear at any point in time, it would be understandable for these creatures to be anywhere in the Whoniverse. And that is exactly what has happened, with one making an appearance in the finale of Class.
But they do not simply show up as baddies. It is much more epic than that. You know those benefactors of the Governors of Coal Hill Academy? None other than the Weeping Angels. Of course, they have not turned a page and become benevolent benefactors of humanity. Indeed, they execute headmistress Dorothea for her inability to carry out their plans.
More from Winter is Coming
- For All Mankind finally gives us information in Episode 405, “Goldilocks”
- Watch a stunning VFX breakdown of The Wheel of Time season 2
- Of course Steve Toussaint (Corlys Velaryon) thinks Eve Best (Rhaenys Targaryen) should rule Westeros
- Confirmed: The Last of Us season 2 will air in 2025
- Final season of Star Trek: Discovery will have “a lot of action, a lot of adventure, a lot of fun”
And what are those plans? Apparently, they revolve around a prophesy that involves a tablet showing a giant Weeping Angel rampaging through London. This way, potentially, both Doctor Who and/or Class (if it continues for a second season) are set up for a particular sort of destruction, much like with the Statue of Liberty in ‘The Angels Take Manhattan.’
Hopefully, this time, the plot will make more sense. As fans well know, looking at a Weeping Angel stops it in its tracks. Watching the Statue of Liberty freely and noticeably wandering about New York City with no one’s glance so much as slowing it down was ridiculous.
