Bold Predictions For The Westworld Season Finale

Tonight’s Westworld season finale is going to be epic, so here are a few epic predictions about what might happen.

SPOILER WARNING: THIS WESTWORLD THEORY POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM RECENT EPISODES OF WESTWORLD. IF YOU AREN’T CAUGHT UP ON WESTWORLD AVOID THIS POST! THIS POST ALSO CONTAINS CONJECTURE ABOUT THE FUTURE OF WESTWORLD, IF YOU DON’T WANT TO HEAR POSSIBLE WESTWORLD SPOILERS AVOID THIS POST!

Dolores is Wyatt.

We know that Dolores killed Arnold, and we also know that Ford knows this. So in the mind of Ford could there be a bigger villain that Dolores? Remember what Ford said when Dolores asked him if they were very old friends…

"No, I wouldn’t say friends, Dolores. I wouldn’t say that at all."

So Ford casting Dolores as the ultimate villain in his new story isn’t a stretch. Even if Ford had Dolores kill Arnold, which I don’t think he did, he might still hold a grudge against her. Dolores may even be on her horrible loop of assault and watching her parents die as some sort of punishment from Ford.

We also haven’t seen Dolores in the current timeline storyline, other than interacting with Ford possibly, since she rode away from her farm. That’s a long time for a host to be missing.

Dolores also was there when the first massacres happened, and has had memories of herself destroying the town. If Teddy’s memories of destroying the town are true too they may be Westworld’s Bonnie and Clyde. This would be quite the twist since we all sympathized with them in the beginning.

Ford has something bigger than just a storyline in mind.

You think all Ford has in mind is a new story? Oh child, no. Ford is the mastermind of Westworld and he sees himself as more than just a disturbing version of Walt Disney.

You can’t take anything Ford has said at face value, but there are nuggets of truth about him in the things he has proclaimed.

Ford told Bernard that humanity was finished because it could no longer make any mistakes. This wasn’t the only time Ford expressed displeasure with humanity either, Ford also told Bernard that he should not trust or put faith in humans.

So Ford thinks humanity is done and he sees himself as a god. The things he creates in the park are his creations. He is an angry old testament god that just wants to protect his creations, and wants them to do as he commands.

So what could Ford’s next move be? Perhaps he’s ready to take his creations out of Eden and start spreading them out into the world, once they prove to him they are ready. Everyone keeps assuming that Ford doesn’t want the hosts to reach the maze and gain true sentience, but if he knew about the maze why doesn’t he destroy it? Even if it was a code in the minds of the hosts Ford could delete it.

Maybe Ford isn’t against the hosts reaching the maze, he’s just against them reaching it with the help of humans. The maze may be unravelled tonight in the Westworld season finale.

The guests are being copied.

The obvious use of the technology that Ford has created for a company like Delos would be in copies of real people. Whether these copies would be some kind of immortality where you can try to upload your consciousness into a host body or a body snatching scheme we don’t know.

If Delos did have the code and could replace anyone with a perfect copy think about the implications. Delos is clearly not a kind and caring company; they could replace politicians, rivals, anyone who challenged them. Essentially this technology could be used to take over the world in the wrong hands. Westworld is a park filled with the wealthiest people in the world, if you were going to replace people in power that guest list is a great place to start.

Ford could also use this same technology to his advantage. The entire Delos board is coming to the park. This certianly gives Ford a wonderful opportunity for a coup d’etat doesn’t it? Will we see the jump from Westworld to Futureworld in the Westworld season finale?

Ford could be about to kill off the Delos board.

Nothing seems to happen in Westworld without Ford knowing about it. Ford knew about Theresa and Charlotte Hale’s plans long before he moved to stop them. Ford knew Bernard was going to try to rebel, warned Bernard not to do it, and then had a plan to stop him as well. Ford thinks of himself as a god in Westworld, and he does appear to be omnipotent.

The only real challenge to Ford is the Delos board. They want Ford out so that they can do bigger, and possibly darker things with the code that Ford and Arnold developed. The board’s plan for getting rid of Ford apparently means coming to Westworld… big mistake. Of course it could also be true that Ford invited them to see his new storyline. Ford wants them all in one place so he can end the battle once and for all.

Whatever plans Ford has, he has the perfect opportunity to get rid of the one thing standing in his way in the Westworld season finale.

Maeve’s rebellion has been under Ford’s control the whole time.

If you’ve ever worked in an office where you use a piece of company tech, like a laptop or phone, you know how hard it is to modify that equipment. If you want to get a program installed on laptop you usually have to go through the IT department and possibly even get approval from a manager.

So the fact that Felix and Sylvester are able to steal tablets and monkey around with code without anyone noticing seems strange. Now it could be that with everything going on in the park right now they have just flown below the radar, or it could be something else.

Perhaps it’s not that Felix and Sylvester just haven’t been noticed as they give Maeve all these powers, perhaps it’s just that that’s exactly what Ford wants. Think about it, these two body shop goons are spending all this time on one host and work in a glass room, how has nobody seen anything? How did their adjustment of the code not cause a red flag? Why would the body shop butchers have clearance to adjust core code?

There are two ways Ford could be manipulating the situation between Maeve, Felix, and Sylvester. It could simply be that Ford sees what they are doing, but doesn’t feel like stopping it right now because he think he might use it later, or it could be that Ford set all this in motion. So far we’ve said the reveries are accidentally to blame, mixed with Arnold’s code, but perhaps Ford himself made the reveries because he wanted to reactivate Arnold’s old code. Maybe Ford started to tweak Maeve so that this would happen, or perhaps either Felix or Sylvester is a host and Ford is manipulating the situation that way.

Ford is the key to everything and seeing how he ties it all up in the Westworld season finale is going to be a treat.

Ford may try to join the hosts.

Ford has  already talked of Lazarus and the raising of the dead. We know that he sees the possibility in immortality in the hosts. What if he’s also working on another form of immortality though. The idea of being able to stay alive forever would be very appealing, but to a man like Ford who already sees himself as a god?

Ford really is a god inside of Westworld, he controls all and he knows all. The only thing holding him back is the fact that he ages and will eventually die, while his creations will not. Could Ford have a plan for this as well?

Ford has already recreated his entire family, with the help of Arnold, in the park. Would it really be a huge leap for Ford to try to recreate himself so that his work could carry on? Perhaps the hosts finding the center of the maze is what Ford needs to show himself that he can put his own consciousness in a host body.

Suicide solves the maze.

We’ve seen Dolores put a gun to her own head multiple times. When she’s in the original Westworld town she starts to have memories of the past and ends up with a gun to her head. Perhaps this isn’t just her going crazy, perhaps this is the center of the maze.

The hosts can’t harm guests, and they have a very limited ability to stray out of their loops. Even when things go wrong they end up back in their loops. Perhaps suicide by a host is the only way out.

If a host kills itself it’s taking direct control over its loop. We saw Maeve kill herself by kicking over a lantern and staying in the tent last week, could this mean that she is truly free? Will we see Dolores kill herself in the Westworld season finale?

Ford is the good guy.

Sure he had Theresa and Elsie killed, but perhaps Ford is the closest thing to a good guy that there is in Westworld. The technology that Ford has created could have a huge impact on the outside world and Ford may not be lying when he says that his creations are better off in the park under his control.

Ford at least has some level of respect for the hosts, some level of fatherly care, even if he does see them at totally disposable. The people at Delos don’t even see that in them.

And perhaps the hosts aren’t as innocent as we think. Perhaps they have broken out of their loops before, and with horrible results. Ford might be standing in the way of their sentience for their own good.

Ford isn’t a white hat, but he might not be a black hat either. We will just have to wait and find out tonight on the Westworld season finale.
