The internet is abuzz with theories about how Ford could have survived the Westworld season finale. Ford was an epic character and it’s hard for fans to see Westworld season 2 without its twisted Walt Disney.
While Ford is probably gone there’s always a chance. In Westworld what you think you’re seeing is rarely what you’re seeing. If there’s one thing we should have learned from Westworld’s first season it’s that Westworld is full of surprises.
The basis of the Ford is alive Westworld theory is the handshake he shared with Bernard just before giving his speech. If you remember one of the things Ford said about the older model hosts was that they would give themselves away with a handshake.
I don’t see what they are talking about, this looks super friendly and not at all long and lingering dark.
It doesn’t look like anything to me.
The idea that Ford would replace himself with a host fits in with everything we know about Ford, but I actually hope it isn’t true. If Ford was just manipulating Dolores then what does her choice mean? If Dolores didn’t really kill Ford doesn’t the negate her alleged growth and mean she isn’t quite as free as we thought? If the death of Ford was just the death of a host that he created then Dolores is still just a puppet.
Of course we did see Ford building a host in his secret lab…
