38. Lord Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish

I once had a fan name Lord Baelish as his “problematic favorite,” which is pretty accurate. Say what you will about the guy, but he’s made a name for himself despite coming from a middling house of no great importance to the people. Baelish has always been a fighter, but he’s also very selfish. He’s only playing the game for himself, and is not above backstabbing and killing his way to the top of the ladder. Actor Aiden Gillen gives him a great nigh-sociopathic edge. We so badly want him to get his comeuppance, but at this rate his power seems unstoppable.

His unrequited crush on Catelyn is still a little creepy, especially considering he’s redirected his affection toward Sansa. And he can still get inside her head (although we hope she shakes him off completely in Season 7). However, for all his subterfuge, Baelish has made his true intentions known. It’s no secret (to many) that he wants to sit the Iron Throne, and he flat out tells Ned not to trust him in Season 1. But his brutal honesty doesn’t stop him from being a jerk.

And just for the record…
