37. King Tommen I Baratheon

Oh, Tommen. You could have been a great king if you were just given the chance to grow up a little bit! And although some children take to positions of authority beautifully (see: Lady Lyanna Mormont), Tommen just couldn’t quite get there, especially with all those opportunistic voices tearing him in different directions.

King Tommen is a sweet kid and had potential to be a good peacemaker, but his gaffes with the Faith Militant are too hard to ignore. He didn’t seem to realize that, as king, he could wield his authority any way he chose. He was too caught up in asking permission. If it wasn’t for Cersei’s spiteful attitude toward Queen Margaery, the Faith Militant may not have ever been reinstated in the first place, and wouldn’t have wormed their way into the Tommen’s good graces.

The littlest Bastard King was just too innocent to rule the Seven Kingdoms. We sort of saw his suicide coming after the wildfire ripped through the Great Sept of Baelor, but that didn’t make it any less heart-wrenching.
