The 50 Best Game of Thrones Characters, Ranked
16. Ser Bronn of the Blackwater
He’s the snarkiest sellsword in all of Westeros, plus he can sing. Actor Jerome Flynn is a former pop star, after all. Ser Bronn is the kind of guy who follows the money first, and is ready to commit any number of despicable acts if the price is right. But what he doesn’t fully admit is how that philosophy has him to some pretty solid friendships. He gets into the good graces of both Tyrion and Jaime Lannister, leveling up from a hired goon to a knight to a landowner…nearly.
Bronn is one of the most enjoyable characters to follow, even if his interests rarely go beyond fighting, singing, and gettin’ it on. He always has a smart word at the ready, and doles out advice in a pointed, honest way. He doesn’t always fight fair, but he has a certain code. When Lady Lysa Arryn says he doesn’t fight with honor, he agrees with her. We can’t fault that level of candidness.
It was upsetting to see him and Tyrion part ways in Season 4. But he kept it in the family when his loyalties transferred over to Jaime, first on the adventure to Dorne and then at the siege of Riverrun. In the future, Bronn will hopefully remain that lovable jerk who brings his own style to the knighthood.
