The 50 Best Game of Thrones Characters, Ranked
15. King Joffrey I Baratheon
Another bastard places high on this ladder. We just couldn’t look away from Joffrey’s wickedness. Sadistic, warped, and a total idiot, Joffrey was a cowardly boy king of the lowest caliber. Apart from his mother, nobody liked him—he just assumed that, because he wore the crown, he could treat King’s Landing like his own personal playground.
Jack Gleeson, who’s actually a pretty nice guy in real life, gave us a downright monster of a mad teenage king. The only time he was ever on the right track was when he brought up Daenerys Targaryen to his grandfather, wondering why the Crown wasn’t more concerned about her. It seems fitting that the one time he was ever correct about something, no one believed him.
Joffrey had one of the most pitiful and painful-looking deaths in the series when he was poisoned at his own wedding feast. He never got to consummate his marriage to Queen Margaery, but it’s probably a good thing he didn’t get a chance to breed.
