9. Queen Margaery Tyrell

Part of me wishes my powers of seduction were as effortless and effective as Margaery’s. Played by the mystifying Natalie Dormer, Queen Margaery was a fierce competitor in the race for the Iron Throne, and wasn’t above using everything at her disposal to achieve her goal.

Her intentions were clear from the first time we met her. She knew King Renly just wasn’t that into her, but it wasn’t any of her concern. She wanted to be queen, and she would do what she had to do. Littlefinger drew out Margaery’s defining line when he asked her, after Renly’s death, if she wanted to be a queen. “No,” she replied. “I want to be the queen.”

Margaery gets what she wants. Not only is King Joffrey smitten with her honeyed words, the commoners in King’s Landing can’t get enough of their beautiful, thoughtful queen. The Tyrells may only be interested in self-advancement, but they do help people along the way.

But not even Margaery’s position as queen could save her or her family from the Faith Militant. She realized too late how dangerous these fanatics were. But before she died Margaery proved that family was the most important thing to her when she sent her grandmother away from King’s Landing before the High Sparrow or Cersei could get to her. Margaery’s death at Cersei’s hands was tough, and it’s sometimes hard to believe she’s really gone.
