The 50 Best Game of Thrones Characters, Ranked
3. Jon Snow
I have to admit something. I have a huge crush on Kit Harington. Shocking, I know, but how can you not love Jon Snow? The former 998th Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch has the knowledge and the show-how Westeros needs to survive the Long Winter that’s all but arrived at this point.
Jon had the makings of a leader from the beginning. He’s extremely handy with a Valyrian steel sword, and was instilled with a sense of honor and duty thanks to his (step)father’s teachings. His precociousness made him a standout star at The Wall and among the wildlings. There were those among the Free Folk who didn’t trust him, but he made a good enough impression for many from the group to join up with him later. Jon comes off a bit whiny at times, but we chalk that up to him being constantly at odds with his moral compass. Being murdered by his own brothers made him search for other ways to defeat the evil coming down from the far north.
Going forward, we hope to see Jon Snow interact with more characters, including Daenerys Targaryen. How might that meeting go? In a 2014 Q&A, Harington said, “I think they’re gonna fight or f*ck. Or both.” We shall see.
