2. Queen Daenerys Targaryen

Warning: Do not mess with Dany, she will literally burn you for it.

The Dragon Queen goes by many names, all of which she earned. We watched Dany grow from a young, meek, shaking leaf of a girl to a proud and fearless leader. Anyone who crosses Dany will pay tenfold. Just ask the folks in Qarth or Slaver’s Bay the Bay of Dragons.

Daenerys has a knack for diplomacy, and learns over the course of the series when and how to deploy her considerable power. She builds one of the largest armies the world has ever seen, and her three dragons are ready to burn her enemies at a word. Having the levelheaded Tyrion as her Hand of the Queen should prevent her from indulging her worst instincts and becoming like her mad father. Once in a while, shades of the classic Targaryen temper flare up, but she tries to unleash it only on those who deserve it.

The Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea has evolved over the series, and it’s hard to pick a favorite moment. (That time she burned down a hut full of khals had its charm.) Emilia Clarke has done a wonderful job with one of the most powerful female roles on television. She makes Dany seem approachable, even with the weight of the world on her shoulders. Long may she reign.
