The 50 Best Game of Thrones Characters, Ranked
44. Ser Jorah Mormont
Jorah is the posterboy for unrequited love, but that doesn’t stop this big softee from trying. Ser Jorah has a dark and checkered past, one that involves betraying the queen he’s sworn to protect, but the audience keeps on rooting for him. I know I personally didn’t want Dany to exile him, but also knew it had to be done. And anyone who risks being captured and forced to fight for slavers just to get back into your good graces is a keeper.
Iain Glen portrays Jorah as a man willing to take on the world as long as the right people benefit. This was something he had to learn along the way (after his slave-selling days, of course). He’s always shown to be a fighter, and will warm up to those willing to lend an ear. However, he’s on the lower part of this list for letting his heart win out too many times, which has proven to be a relationship-killing mistake (with his wife and with Dany, more than once).
Jorah’s greyscale is unfortunately spreading, and spreading fast. But where there’s a will, there’s a way in the Known World. Here’s hoping he finds a cure before it’s too late.
