The makers of Westworld are still giving out clues about the series. This time we got an awesome tidbit about the camera angles in the show. Nolan and Joy were deliberate with everything in Westworld, so it shouldn’t be surprising that even the camera angles are trying to tell you something.
Check out what Nolan and Joy have to say for yourself, and read more after the video.
So basically if the character is a host the camera will be ahead of them, facing and leading the actor. This is because the hosts are on predetermined paths. You can see this with Teddy and Dolores, the camera is often ahead of them looking back.
If the character is a human however the camera follows them, because humans are not set on a predetermined path. The man in black is a great example of this, the camera is often behind him following his movements. It’s almost like the camera is tied to the back of his horse alongside Lawrence.
The big question now is what does this mean for Ford. Yep, I’m about to go rewatch the season and look at where the camera is on Dr. Robert Ford. I’ve got to figure out if that handshake meant anything!
