Westworld Theory: What Was Maeve’s Mission Outside The Park?

Maeve was programed to escape Westworld, but what was she supposed to do once she accomplished her mission?

SPOILER WARNING: THIS WESTWORLD THEORY POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM RECENT EPISODES OF WESTWORLD. IF YOU AREN’T CAUGHT UP ON WESTWORLD AVOID THIS POST! THIS POST ALSO CONTAINS CONJECTURE ABOUT THE FUTURE OF WESTWORLD, IF YOU DON’T WANT TO HEAR POSSIBLE WESTWORLD SPOILERS AVOID THIS POST!

We know that Maeve’s great escape was all part of her programing because Bernard told us so. We don’t find out exactly who programmed Maeve to escape in the end, but obviously it must be Ford. Sure it could have been someone else, but no one else really makes sense.

The only other real possibility is Charlotte Hale or someone from Delos, but if they could program Maeve to escape with all the code in her head why didn’t they have that as their plan from the start? Why get Lee Sizemore to try to smuggle out Peter Abernathy if they could go go this much more advanced route. Nope, it had to be Ford.

So what was Maeve’s mission then? Why have Maeve try to escape at all? Was she simply a diversion? It’s possible that Maeve’s moves to shut down and occupy the park’s security helped the other hosts escape from cold storage and be ready for Ford’s final narrative.

There’s another crazy Westworld Theory on Maeve’s escape though though. I’m partial to the idea that Maeve was perhaps Ford’s backup plan. Maybe Ford knew that if his new narrative failed that he would at least have gotten one host out, and given time perhaps that one host could help the others. Maeve did have all the tools to help the others from the outside, she had all her meaningful traits jacked up. Not to mention that Maeve’s friendship with Felix would probably have come in handy.

All this is moot of course because Maeve decided to return to the park to look for her daughter. That might be the first move she made that wasn’t programmed into her. The best laid plans of mice and men when it comes to hosts right?
