It seems as if we might not get Chris Chibnall’s first season of Doctor Who until later in 2018. And by later, we mean not until the fall.
Chris Chibnall is taking over Doctor Who and many fans are grateful for the change. I just hope they’re grateful for the wait it is going to cause. According to Cultbox, we won’t get Chris Chibnall’s first season until the autumn of 2018. That means we’ll have a full year and three months before we get more Doctor Who.
Peter Capaldi’s last season is set to air in April of this year and the Christmas special will be the beloved actor’s last as the twelfth Doctor. Since the announcement, the internet has been buzzing over who could possibly take over the reigns as lucky number thirteen.
But that weight will fall on Chibnall’s shoulder. He will be focusing on the search for the next Doctor and his choice will really set the tone for his first season as showrunner. After all, Matt Smith was Moffat’s pick and you could tell that his season was going to be awkward and funny and that’s pretty much what we got.
But we won’t know much about this new Doctor for there will be probably around 8 to 9 months without Doctor Who once again. Apparently the Sherlock syndrome wore off on them. Personally I’d rather have Doctor Who more frequently with smaller seasons and not nearly has much weirdly over-arching themes than having to wait almost a year between seasons.

First though, we have to see who Chibnall picks to be the next Doctor. Is it going to be a woman or person of color or is it going to be another white man?
