Brewery Ommegang set to release latest Game of Thrones beer: Bend the Knee

As arguably the best television show on the planet, Game of Thrones deserves the best merchandise. In that tradition, Brewery Ommegang has announced its latest Game of Thrones-themed beer: the Bend the Knee Golden Ale. Bend the Knee is brewed in the Belgian traditional fashion, with the addition of wildflower honey, and comes in at a very strong 9% ABV. (Your average Miller Lite clocks in at just 4.2% ABV by comparison.) Brewery Ommegang President Doug Campbell described the taste:

"The subtle noble and floral hop contribution adds to its delicateness, and the beer finishes smooth and dry."

Sounds delicious. Campbell also suggests pairing Bend the Knee with “seafood and shellfish, roasted or grilled chicken, grilled steaks aged Swiss-style cheeses.” And if the beer itself wasn’t enough, for the first time fans will be able to choose their allegiance, with three different labels representing House Targaryen, House Stark and House Lannister. We’re guessing there will be a lot of House Lannister bottles left on the shelves.

Since 2013, the New York based Brewery Ommegang (which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary) has released seven different Game of Thrones beers, including the Take the Black stout and the Fire and Blood ale.

Bend the Knee is expected to hit store shelves in late May with a suggested retail price of $10.99. With each of Brewery Ommegang’s Game of Thrones beers released in limited quantities, make sure to grab yours right away. Hopefully, you won’t have to hang on to them to long before Season 7 premieres this summer.
