Video collects the last words of every Game of Thrones character, and other esoterica

All men must die. Every Game of Thrones fan knows that. But not every man must die unprepared. If you’ve ever thought about what your last words might be, you might want to draw inspiration from this video, created by Youtuber HoodynEdge. It runs through the last words of a host of characters from throughout the show’s first six seasons.

The video oversells itself a little, as it doesn’t actually sum up the last words of every dead character in the show — Shae, Selyse Baratheon, Brother Ray and Loras Tyrell are some notable names that didn’t make the cut. But it’s a fun albeit emotional watch, and does a great job of bringing the poignancy of the show’s grimmer moments to life.

It’s also interesting to note that the Three-Eyed Raven is referred to as Brynden Rivers. For any non-book readers, Brynden Rivers was a legitimized bastard of Aegon VI Targaryen, and is discovered to be the Three-Eyed Crow by Bran Stark. However, HBO have not confirmed that the show’s Three-Eyed Raven is Brynden Rivers, so this is conjecture on the part of the creator.

Next up, if you’re a fan of the Hound (and as happy to see him alive and well as I am), here’s a short retrospective of the character, created by iAmRookie. It offers us a look back on his fraught relationship with his older brother, Gregor Clegane, as well as his complicated bond with Arya Stark. There are a number of Game of Thrones videos on the creator’s channel, so check it out.

Finally, Game of Theories created a video documenting five of their favorite plot twists that would have completely changed the show. Take a look below.

I have some reservations about a few of the points made in the video. For example, we’re presented with the theory that if Stannis had won the battle at Blackwater Bay, he would have found it easy to oust the Boltons from Winterfell. However, if indeed Stannis had won, it’s likely that the Red Wedding never would have taken place, and the Boltons wouldn’t have taken Winterfell to begin with.

Personally, I think the message of the video is clear — without some of the show’s most harrowing moments, such as Ned’s execution or Oberyn’s brutal death, there wouldn’t be a show to watch, or at least not an interesting show. What’s your opinion on these alternate theories?
