Game of Thrones actors on season 7: “It doesn’t feel like a normal season. It feels bigger.”

Valar Morghulis — all men must die. Or to put it in television production terms, Urnēpter Edruta Mōris — all shows must end. And with Game of Thrones season 7 entering the post-production phase, that means there’s only one more season of our favorite show to film. Mashable caught up with several cast members to gauge their feelings on that. Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) is having trouble letting go.

"I know we’re all feeling it on set. You’ve yet to see the work we’ve done on Season 7. You guys have two more, we have one more, we’re one ahead of you — and we’re now in the position where it must be like trying to get off drugs. We’re easing ourselves off drugs gently, and the drug is this show."

Based on that, it sounds like the cast is good and finished with filming for season 7, which hopefully means a trailer is coming soon.

Cunningham also teases the tone of season 7, which apparently feels different compared to past years. Per Mashable, there’s an “urgency” to the new episodes. “[W]ithout giving anything away, things are coming to a head, so not only do we feel the passage of time … that’s also been reflected in what we’re shooting,” Cunningham said.

"So it can be occasionally a little odd on set; it adds to the work and adds to the tension and we can use it, but I’ve never committed to a job like this before, this length of time. I’ve got a family on this that I’m gonna miss hugely."

Meanwhile, Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm) was impressed by how much the show is fitting into season 7 despite the fact that it’s only seven episodes long, as opposed to the usual 10. “[I]t doesn’t feel like a normal season, it feels bigger.”

"It doesn’t feel like a panic, but I’m panicked for people, I think. I think, and this is true of Season 6, you can feel that things are coming to a close. It’s all getting a bit much. The show’s kind of like a pressure cooker … It’s just absolute chaos."

Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) agrees that it feels like things are coming to an end. “It’s kind of crazy. It’s sad for us because we’re not going to get to hang out as much.” Ever reliable, he also offered a tease for what to expect for the penultimate season.

"It’s gonna be a crazy season. It’s definitely going to blow a lot of people’s minds. It’s still the same running theme; characters that haven’t crossed each other’s paths before will do, and they’re gonna take it even further this time. People have loyalties that they have to examine."

Which loyalties are going to be examined, and by whom? Sansa vs Littlefinger? Jaime vs Cerseri? On Game of Thrones, nothing is for sure, but these teases make us more eager than ever to find out more.
