2. Tyrion Lannister

As the second Lannister on our list, Tyrion could easily prove to be the most capable of all our fictional presidents. Tyrion possesses all of the strengths of his father Tywin, but few of his weaknesses. Tyrion has a deft mind and a strong grasp of politics without the habit of alienating those closest to him.

Even Tywin recognized that his youngest son a certain special something. Tywin hated Tyrion from the moment he was born, but when House Lannister was on the ropes at the end of season 1, he sent Tyrion to the capital to bring Joffrey to heel. It was Tyrion whom Tywin allowed to stay in his command tent and discuss strategy after the battle of the Green Fork. Not a bad endorsement.

Tyrion has shown himself on multiple occasions to be crafty and quick to learn, easily stepping into the bareknuckle political brawl that is political life in King’s Landing and holding his own against far more seasoned opponents. Managing to defend the city from Stannis while simultaneously fending off threats from within is no small feat. Likewise, in Meereen, Tyrion stepped in and grasp the situation quickly. Tyrion is a pragmatist who focuses on things he can fix, rather than stewing on those he can’t. Those are excellent qualities in a president.

Sure, Tyrion drinks a bit more than I’d prefer, and his White House might see more use of that alleged secret tunnel that John F. Kennedy used to smuggle female friends in and out, but the presidency is a stressful job. Let the man have a drink. Or two.
