The five best moments from the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience
By Dan Selcke
“Light of the Seven”
“Light of the Seven” is one of Djawadi’s most recent compositions for the show, and months on from the season 6 finale, we still can’t get it out of our heads. It’s a slow-building number that takes its time setting an uneasy mood, before ramping up to a glorious, gothic climax full of organs and voices and property destruction.
Simply put, it may be the best song Djawadi has written for Game of Thrones so far, and that’s not faint praise. The orchestra plays it near the end of the second half of the show, which makes it the climax to the evening. It is up to the task.
But if the song itself isn’t enough for you, if you go to the concert, it comes complete with a light show. When the song reaches its zenith, green flames burst from the stage, and the screens above the stage, bathing the audience in heat. (Although if audience members get uncomfortable, I can’t imagine how bad it must be for the musicians.)
It’s a spectacular end to a spectacular night. Congratulations to Djawadi and company for making it the concert a success.
